Friends from far off places
My buddy Jimmy came out from the Creek to hang out tonight. There was a Divisadero art walk going on, so the hood was crowded. We had a couple at 821, then went down to the Page. Jim was talking up a married woman (hey, that’s my department!), and there was a lot of talent at the bar. On the way home, a blonde asked me to have my cowboy hat. Sorry, sweetie, only one way to take a man’s hat!
What did we learn? We learned about the second line in rugby (Irish Ben showed up), we discussed the Giants and the future NFL lockout, we decided to go see the Hold Steady and the Drive-By Truckers at the Fillmore in a couple of months (separate shows this time), and maybe even catch U2 at the Oakland Coliseum. Oh, and we learned way too much about the inner workings of the Los Angeles Clippers.
We discussed Scott Armstrong’s future gig with the Asheville Tourists, and we thought about heading down to South Carolina to work on the book some more. Now, we’re home, working on new songs about old things. Have a good one I wrote this week called, “I’m So Happy.” It’s the last song I will ever write about you know who.
I’m umpiring a game tomorrow in Westborough - Sacred Heart Cathedral. Hope to see the nun! The weekend looks promising. Met an Indian girl named Zapara the other night and would love to run into her again. It’s 3:25 in the morning, and I’m in a tremendous mood.
