S & M and looking for work

Can’t wait to see the spam that headline attracts. So I went out last night to the Page down Divis. Many years ago, it was called Chances and I first went there for one of Poetry Boy’s birthday parties. The owners were a pair of Palestinians and Poetry Boy, being a nice Jewish boy, would have hilarious ragging sessions with them about the Middle East.

It’s also where I ended up on S’s birthday party night and ran into a young’un - S keeps lowering her age. First she was supposedly 17, now she’s supposedly 12. Nice. Anyway, I was hanging out there and in walked S and M, post-Pixies concert. It was good to see them - I hadn’t seen either in a while. We ended up on my stoop where we were just a bit too loud late at night. Oops. It’s kind of like a hockey fight. The third man in is the problem. Anyway, apologies to my neighbors (who thankfully don’t read this).

On the work front, I didn’t get to cover yesterday’s Bust Bowl at Candlestick because the Tennessean had its hockey writer come out two days early for a Sharks game to do the sidebar. I guess I shouldn’t point out that two days in a hotel is probably more expensive than the $100 they would have paid me. Now, with the Bears coming in on Thursday, I just found out my contact at the Chicago Sun-Times, whom I called a week ago, no longer works at the paper. This probably means I missed out on the sidebar for that game.

I’ve been getting enough work from BANG (heh) that I’m finally solvent again, which is good. It was pretty hairy there for a while. But I’m afraid the Civic is at the end of the line soon. I took it in a couple of weeks ago and the mechanic basically said nurse it and save up for a new car. Not that it isn’t fixable, but it would be cheaper to do that. Bitter Dad offered to help me get a new used car, so I’m going to take him up on that. Yes, I’m an adult. What’s your point?

OK, off to buy more coffee now. Seacrest out!
