Picks de l’NFL
Saturday, September 26th, 2009Hey kids, here’s the picks for the week, up late Friday night because Eric complained that I was late last week and not at all during Week 1. Bastard.
Oh, I was 9-7 last week and barely survived in the sucide pool (never bet anything on the Redskins).
My suicide pick is Baltimore over Cleveland. I suppose that’s everybody’s. It’s the only double-digit line of the week (13 1/2 points). Cleveland sucks. Seriously, don’t get cute here.
Other alleged locks are Green Bay over St. Louis and Pittsburgh over Cincinnati. I don’t trust Jay Cutler on the road, but with Hasselback out, the Bears better beat the Seahawks. I’m a little worried that Carolina might put it together this week at Dallas - and remember, Romo is just as likely to throw four picks as DelHomme. Philadelphia’s backups should beat Kansas City and New England’s the pick at home against an apparently legitimate Atlanta team.
I’m going with Jacksonville at Houston in a mild upset. Detroit should beat Washington for its first win since 2007. The Giants over Tampa Bay and Tennessee over the Jets - must win for a good Titans team, let down week for the former Titans. New Orleans keeps it going at Buffalo (different story if this was December), San Diego over Miami and Denver over Oakland.
Indianapolis is a dog at Arizona (I saw 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 points). Yes, the Cardinals went to the Super Bowl last year and yes they won at Jacksonville last week but … seriously? I think this is the take of the season so far.
The best game of the week figures to be 2-0 San Francisco at 2-0 Minnesota. Or so say the pundits. I think it will be a good game, which makes the 7-point line in favor of the Vikings a bit high. I’d bet the meat rather than the bread - Minnesota to win but the 49ers to cover.
