Mr. Bitter

There’s been an awful lot of dying this week. My umpiring boss, Tony Patch, had a massive heart attack yesterday and passed away. Tony was a lovable but gruff kind of guy, smoking cigars all the time. He also pushed me to get into umpiring again and I wouldn’t be doing high school baseball games if it wasn’t for him. He was a real character as well as a good boss and I’ll miss him.
