South by Southwest is coming up!
Wednesday, January 14th, 2009I purchased my South By Southwest flight and hotel last night. The cost came down this year - last year I paid over $660, this year it was $483. The bad news is I then tried to transfer over the money to cover the purchase and Washington Mutual wouldn’t let me do it. Because it was deposited via ATM a couple of days ago. Anyway, today I walked to the bank and took care of it.
Also, I purchased a new cell phone at Radio Shack. I went with the Go phone for $20 where you purchase airtime at 25 cents a minute. I use the thing so rarely, it doesn’t make sense to go on a full plan. Although the first guy at Radio Shack that I talked to tried to sell me one. He started out claiming that he could get me a plan for $30 a month, then found out the plans start at $40 a month. Then, he claimed all kinds of extra costs on the pay-as-you-go plans that turned out not to be there. Nice. He didn’t get his commission.
Last night, Tony at the Hemlock offered us a show. We have to get Graves Brothers and the Get Offs on board. It’ll be March 3. The Get Offs are in and Stoo has committed to play with us. We don’t know if the GBD can make it yet, but we’re hopeful.
Now, the only bad news of the week - I blew off 24 to go to dinner with Kosovo Jessica on Sunday and to watch “Burn After Reading” at the Independent on Monday. I figured I could watch the episodes online. Well, I’m at the Bean Bag Cafe and can’t watch the episodes online for some reason. I’m very bitter about this.
