Linkless in blogland

Monday, September 6th, 2010

Hey, still unable to link anything, so my blogging has been curtailed. But here’s what’s up. I started KUSF training shifts three Sundays ago. It’s 4:30 in the morning and I just finished up my last one. In the next week or so, I find out which graveyard (3-6 a.m.) shift I get. I’m getting more comfortable with the board but I still fuck up the transitions on songs sometimes. My volunteer hours that allow me to have a shift are pretty easy. I spend Tuesday afternoons calling the clubs and theaters with the names of our ticket winners. I may also organize a DJ night at the 540 Club on Clement. Chris Cook, one of the other DJs was asking me to do so at another DJ night at Lucky 13 on Thursday.

Miranda, James, Branden and I went to see Slayer on Tuesday at the Cow Palace. Really, nothing more needs to be said. It was a great time.

Middle school baseball started up last week. It looks like I’ll be umpiring about one game a week for the next five weeks.

Works been pretty plentiful of late. Lots of stories on the docket. I even convinced Laz to let me do an Al The Wop’s story, so there will be a run up the Delta soon. The San Jose State alumni magazine (Washington Square) hired me to do a magazine piece on the Spartans gymnastics team. Magazine pieces pay really well, so this should finally let me buy a new used car. With high school football starting up, that will be a good thing. I’m renting each month to do calendar/Baywoof distribution.

Happy Labor Day, everybody. Vote union!

Bitter brother suggestion

Bitter brother sent me an email today:

“Whenever you form your next band … you need to include a vuvuzela player. Just to run around blowing on that thing at random intervals.”

I like it.
